Hello Roswell Relay Volunteers!
I can't thank you all enough for the time and effort this past Saturday at the Rotary Relays.
Becky and the coaches had everything planned perfectly and the weather cooperated! We had over 1,000 high school athletes from 25 schools participate. The fantastic food from our sponsors and tireless work of Mindy and the hospitality crew kept everyone fed. Our 55 Rotarian and Interact volunteers made sure that things kept moving smoothly throughout the day.
I repeatedly heard how much it means to the coaches and bus drivers to receive such great hospitality and have organized volunteers - this is truly a standout Roswell Rotary event.
Great work everyone! and to those of you who have not been a part of Roswell Relays before, jump on in! I promise, it is one of the most fun projects of the year!

The Annual "Sweep the Hooch" is On! March 23, 2024 - 9am to 12pm. This is a joint event sponsored by the Chattahoochee Riverkeeper and supported through Roswell Rotary, Trout Unlimited, Keep North Fulton Beautiful and several other organizations. In 2023, Sweep the Hooch set record-breaking totals again! With almost 1,400 volunteers, we removed a total of 32 TONS of trash from 64 cleanup sites throughout our watershed. We need Walkers, Waders and Floaters to clean up the “Hooch” along Riverside Road, including the trails, the riverbank and possibly the islands. To volunteer:
- Advise Joe Mazzeo joemazzeo1@gmail.com, including number in your group/family participating.
- Sign Up at: https://chattahoochee.org/sweep-the-hooch/
- Participants should plan to meet at Riverside Park at 8:30am. There you will get your gloves and bags, and sign your waiver.
- From Riverside Park we drive closer to Don White Park: Parking is available in 3 nearby locations: 1) Don White Park: park under the bridge, 2) Huntcliff Trace, or 3) Etris Road where there some parking off a dirt road there.
- We will be picking up trash on Riverside Drive from Iris Road to Dan White Park and picking up garbage on either side of that road.
- We will need 1 - 2 pickup trucks and/or trailers to haul the bags of garbage collected.
- Please wear old clothes. We will supply gloves and bags. Also, bring a “grabber” if you have or can buy one, makes picking up the trash easier!
Call me or email me if you can participate and/or have any questions!
